Frequently asked questions

Is FontMaker free?

Yes, completely. No account, no watermark, no limits. Create and export as many fonts as you like.

What can I use to make a font?

SVG files, or images (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP): FontMaker automatically traces your images into clean vector glyphs. So you can start from vector shapes, scans, or photos of your letters, or even draw glyphs right in the app.

Can I turn my handwriting into a font?

Yes. Write your letters, scan or photograph them (dark ink on white paper works best), then import them. FontMaker turns each shape into a character you can type with.

What formats can I export?

TTF and OTF, ready to install on Windows, macOS and Linux, and to use in Photoshop, Word, Canva, Figma, Procreate, and on the web.

Do I need to install any software?

No. FontMaker runs entirely in your browser. There is nothing to download or install.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Everything is processed on your own device. Your images and fonts never leave your computer, so your work stays completely private.

Can I use my fonts commercially?

Yes. The fonts you make are yours, to use for any project, personal or commercial.

Can I adjust spacing and alignment?

Yes. Fine-tune the baseline, the size, and the left and right spacing for every glyph, with a live preview as you type, so your font stays consistent.
